Opus 2 receives prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Opus 2 International (“Opus 2”), the global leader in collaborative legal technology, has today been awarded the coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of the company’s outstanding achievement in the category of innovation.

Headquartered in London, Opus 2 provides a range of software and services for use throughout the litigation and arbitration lifecycle. The company employs 130 staff worldwide with additional offices in Edinburgh, San Francisco, New York and Singapore.

The catalyst for much of Opus 2’s growth to date has been its patented, cloud-based Magnum platform, which streamlines legal proceedings, facilitating secure collaboration throughout litigation and arbitration matters. The unique technology enables hearings to be conducted electronically, generating significant cost savings. Since it was first used in the UK courts on the Berezovsky v Abramovich trial in 2011, Magnum has become a near industry standard for document heavy disputes in the UK, with over 90% of the top 50 UK law firms counted among its clients.

At the same time Opus 2 has rapidly expanded overseas, providing the Magnum platform and additional hearing room services on cases across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In the US, the Magnum platform is being adopted on an enterprise basis by some of the largest law firms in the world and has revolutionised the process of case analysis, deposition preparation and transcript management.

Opus 2 will be presented with the Queen’s Award by the Lord-Lieutenant of the county, The Queen’s local representative, at its headquarters in London, and will also attend a royal reception at Buckingham Palace later in the year.

The Queen’s Award follows Opus 2’s win of “Innovative Solution Provider of the Year” at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) awards in the US. The company has also won a series of Green awards which recognise the contribution to the environment brought about by facilitating paperless court trials.

About the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are widely regarded as the most prestigious business awards in the UK and the 2018 awards, published to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s 92nd birthday on 21st April, mark the 52nd anniversary of the scheme. Opus 2 receives the accolade in the Innovation category. The other categories are International Trade, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility). Organised by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, each category has a judging panel which makes a recommendation to the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee. The Prime Minister makes a final recommendation to Her Majesty The Queen, who approves the winners.
