How did we adapt so quickly? ‘When the impossible became the necessary’

Fair or not, the legal industry has a reputation for being cautious when it comes to technology adoption. Although the industry has been undergoing a pretty remarkable digital transformation over the last 10 years or so, progress has often seemed excruciatingly slow.

But when the pandemic hit, everything changed. Almost overnight, we had to adapt to working remotely. Travel was out of the question. Co-workers were no longer a few steps away. Physical meeting rooms were replaced by videoconferencing tools like Zoom, or Microsoft Teams, or BlueJeans. Many of us weren’t set up at home with fast broadband or secure access to the tools and data we rely upon every day to do our jobs and collaborate with colleagues and clients.

Looking back, it’s surprising and gratifying to see how quickly and nimbly we made the transition, learning how to use several new tools and inventing processes along the way.

How did we do it? What did we learn? And where is legal technology headed in the months to come?

To find out, join us Tuesday for an ILTA webinar entitled, “When the Impossible Became the Necessary.” Sponsored by Opus 2, the webinar will be a roundtable discussion with a very distinguished panel, including:

  • Timothy B. McGranor, Partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, an expert in oil and gas litigation, commercial litigation, and antitrust
  • Julie K. Brown, Director of Practice Technology at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, a legal technology veteran with more than 30 years of experience
  • Melissa L. Weberman, Head of eData Group at Arnold & Porter, whose practice focuses on eDiscovery and information governance
  • Gregory L. Jordan, Director of Discovery Operations at Arnold & Porter, a 30+ year industry veteran in document-intensive matter management and discovery

This webinar will bring together a diverse range of perspectives on accelerating change in the industry and the challenges that come with it.
