Fair or not, the legal industry has a reputation for being cautious when it comes to technology adoption. Although the industry has been undergoing a pretty remarkable digital transformation over the last 10 years or so, progress has often seemed excruciatingly slow.
But when the pandemic hit, everything changed. Almost overnight, we had to adapt to working remotely. Travel was out of the question. Co-workers were no longer a few steps away. Physical meeting rooms were replaced by videoconferencing tools like Zoom, or Microsoft Teams, or BlueJeans. Many of us weren’t set up at home with fast broadband or secure access to the tools and data we rely upon every day to do our jobs and collaborate with colleagues and clients.
Looking back, it’s surprising and gratifying to see how quickly and nimbly we made the transition, learning how to use several new tools and inventing processes along the way.
