UK-first partnership to use Opus 2 for full lifecycle case management

In a UK-first, international law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has entered into a strategic partnership with litigation technology firm Opus 2 for an innovative new application of its market-leading electronic trial platform, Magnum.

Under this deal, BLP will be able to leverage the cloud-based case management system and collaboration tools on a unilateral basis, to facilitate collaborative team working throughout the entire lifecycle of a dispute.

The unique partnership with Opus 2 was led by Nick Pryor who was appointed as Head of LCR Client Technology in September 2017. Commenting on the deal, he said: “BLP recognises the efficiency that paperless case management systems provide for litigators. By leveraging the Magnum platform we can improve team collaboration, reduce the burden of email, and empower our lawyers to work more flexibly and efficiently.

“BLP are always looking to embrace new technology, especially so where new products and platforms make matters more efficient for clients. This partnership builds on BLP’s reputation as an innovator in the legal sector.”

Oliver McClintock, Chief Commercial Officer at Opus 2, added: “We are delighted to have entered into a strategic relationship with BLP, which will enable their teams to benefit from the use of Magnum across many more litigation and arbitration matters. Having established itself as the market leading courtroom solution since its launch in 2011, we are now seeing a surge in demand for Magnum from an early stage in the dispute resolution lifecycle. We expect this early use of the system to grow as law firms increasingly look to innovate and become more efficient through the use of collaborative, cloud-based technology.
